CALGARY, AB: The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association has a proud history reaching back almost 50 years. Wheat growers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba grow the majority of all Canadian wheat.
“Wheat Growers are proud to play a major role in Canada’s agricultural industry. We produce over 25 million tonnes of wheat annually, exporting over 60% of it to world markets,” stated Levi Wood, President.
Amongst other uses, Canadian wheat is used for a variety of breads and baked good, pasta, livestock fee, beer, vodka and biofuel. It is one of the world’s most sought-after wheats.
“Wheat growers play a major part of Canada’s economy and our agri-food industry. We truly do feed the world. Canadians should celebrate agriculture day everyday!” closed Jim Wickett, Chair.
