There's growing concern from grain shippers and producers that we'll see a repeat of 2013-14 this year, when a bottleneck on the rail lines lead to lost sales for farmers. Daryl Fransoo, Saskatchewan Director for the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association said the latest reports show things are only getting worse for producers.
Daryl Fransoo is a guest on Danielle's show where they talk about the severe shortage of rail cars that has left millions of tonnes of in-demand grain trapped across Western Canada.
"Farmers are mobilizing. We are a strong voice when we come together. It's time we get acknowledged for the dollars and jobs we contribute to the Canadian economy. We need proper and balanced regulations that prevents rail from holding us captive."
Daryl Fransoo, director for the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, told Murray Wood who’s filling in for John Gormley this weekend, the latest reports from the railways are disappointing for producers.
“We’re facing conditions that are very similar to 2013, where farmers lost billions of dollars due to the lack of service provided by the railways,” said Daryl Fransoo. “It’s pretty grave right now.”
