Edgar Scheurer farms near Dugald, Manitoba alongside his brother, growing wheat, canola, soybeans, oats, and sunflowers. With a background in custom spraying and decades of hands-on experience across a range of Prairie cropping systems, Edgar brings a practical, systems-level perspective to farm management.
He currently serves on the Prairie Oat Growers board and has previously been involved with the Manitoba Canola Growers Association, as well as his local watershed board. Edgar is deeply concerned about the long-term viability of farming for the next generation, particularly as consolidation among input suppliers and grain companies continues to concentrate market power and squeeze farm margins. His perspective is rooted in protecting farmer competitiveness, independence, and profitability.
